What is Amivox?
Amivox is a new type of telephony service that saves cost while giving you a total control on your communication from a very simple control board.
Get started
Access m.amivox.com and click on the link “sign in”. All you need to do is to fill out some few data fields and press Submit. After a short time you will receive an SMS message with your Amivox password. Now you are all set! Go back to m.amivox.com and log in with your mobile phone number and the Amivox password you just received via SMS.
Please remember to always use the country code in front of your number (example: +44124567890 for a UK number)
You should change your password to something you will easily remember. Once you have registered, you can change your password in My account under Change password.

From the mobile phone
You can access all m.amivox.com functionalities from your mobile phone. All you need is a mobile phone that can access the internet. If you are not using Wifi, be aware that data charges by your service provider may apply.
From the computer
All m.amivox.com functionality is accessible from any computer connected to the internet. It is very convenient and easy to type and send SMS messages from your computer. But it can also be very convenient to use your PC’s browser to order a call from your home fixed phone to any international destination.
Send an SMS message
Either from your PC or mobile phone browser simply go to Send sms to edit and send SMS messages. This way you will save a lot of money, especially when sending SMS messages abroad!
Place a call
You probably remember in the old movies where the actor says: “Operator, please connect me to...” This is exactly what Amivox does for you. From either your PC browser or from your mobile browser you can ask Amivox to “connect you to...”
When you have asked Amivox for a connection, you wait 3-5 seconds and then you receive a call from Amivox. As soon as you answer, your call is connected to the number you asked for.
Unless you change it, you will first receive the call to your mobile phone number. When you answer it, you will hear an electronic announcement stating that your call is being connected and some few seconds later the phone of the person you are calling will ring. This is the way you call people and save money with Amivox!
Select your number
By default, you will receive the initiating calls to your mobile phone. But if you prefer, you can actually receive the calls into any other number that you choose. You can do so by changing the telephone number in the field My phone (You will be called at this number).
Thanks to this function, you can handle Amivox calls as it is more convenient and efficient at each time. For example, when you are at home you can place all Amivox calls comfortably lying on the sofa from your cordless telephone (be aware that calls from the land line are even cheaper than with mobile phones). Also, when you are travelling abroad, you pay for receiving calls to your mobile (while you may find yourself close to a fixed number like in a hotel room, in an office or any other local phone). Amivox can reduce your calling cost dramatically in this situation; with Amivox you just need to tell which number you would like to be connected from and that will be the number you will be called at. This is very simple but very powerful in many situations!
One click access
For your convenience, the 5 last contacted buddies appear in m.amivox.com’s main page. This way, with a single click you can trigger a call or start editing an SMS message to those people you communicate most frequently with.
Tricks when you are abroad
As you know, using your mobile phone while you are roaming (i.e., in another country) can be very expensive. Any calls you place will cost much more than what you are used to:
- Calls back home, calls to another friend travelling with you, local calls to the country you are visiting or calls to a third country; they all will be much more expensive than what you are used to paying for placing calls while you are at home
And don’t forget that you will also pay for receiving calls. And be aware that the price for sending SMS messages (wherever you send them to) will be much more expensive than the price you pay for sending SMS messages while you are at home.
Why is this? The short answer is that when you are roaming, there are more mobile service providers sharing the cake. And you are the sweet cake they are eating!
Borrow a phone
A good practice is to change the number where the initiating call will take place. For example, you should use the hotel room’s fix telephone (if it can be called directly without landing in the hotel’s Front Desk). Or any body’s phone that you can borrow (fix or mobile) to receive the initiating call.
Be aware of roaming wireless data cost
Wireless data access can also be very expensive when you are roaming. Therefore, we recommend that you avoid using it whenever possible. If you have a Wifi enabled phone, try using public Wifi hot spots in order to using m.amivox.com. Or use any PC you have access to.
Local SIM card
If you are planning to be in another country for several days, it may be a good idea that you get a local prepaid SIM card with a fair wireless data price. This way you will be able to use m.amivox.com to send SMS messages and place all sorts of calls for much, much less money that what you will pay if you use your home subscription.
